This week I’ve seen several emails and social media posts telling me the year is racing by, that we’ve used up 10% of it already!
So I’ve been reflecting on how we set goals for ourselves and how we determine the pace at which we move. Whose version of success are YOU chasing?

My goal is not to be better than anyone else, but to be better than I used to be.” Wayne Dyer

What does success look like for you?

We experience pressure when something is important to us, when we feel that we need to deliver or perform. It turns into stress when we feel overwhelmed, when there are too many demands on us and we lose our ability to respond or cope appropriately.

Many demands are external – the pressure to pay the bills or keep up with the competition, but often the stress is generated internally when we fail to live up to our own high standards and expectations.

In my work coaching the owners of small businesses, I see the impact of chasing someone else’s version of success, when comparison is used as a stick to beat yourself with, when people drive themselves through exhaustion towards burnout, only to realise that what they’re building is not what will make them happy.

Perhaps the biggest cause of overwhelm is our tendency to overcomplicate, to try and do too many things at once. So today I thought I’d share some ways to simplify and destress:-

🌟 Keep track of what stresses you by keeping a journal
🌟 Plan time out between activities, even if it’s 5/10 minutes
🌟 Establish boundaries between work and home life
🌟 Choose one key focus for each day, each week, each month
🌟 Relax by doing something creative
🌟 Pause before reacting to a stressful situation so you can respond instead
🌟 Go with your gut, do things your way
🌟 Identify your most productive time of the day and use your energy wisely
🌟 Break down tasks into manageable chunks
🌟 Slow down

Let me know what methods you use to simplify and destress. And be kind to yourself…
