This week I’ve been reflecting on perspective. After a long weekend and two short weeks, it can be a struggle to get back into the groove. We can feel that different parts of our life are fighting each other causing us to feel emotionally torn. How do you balance your work and family life? And how do you get perspective on the decisions and choices you face?

Your perspective will either become your prison or your passport.” Steven Furtick

How do you keep a healthy perspective in your life?

If the last year has taught us anything, it’s that a healthy life balance is something we can all strive for. Managing our emotions when dealing with difficult news, putting in boundaries between our work and home lives and finding ways to deal with stress and anxiety.

Finding a balance that works for you takes time and effort, but the impact not just on your happiness and well being but also on productivity and business success can be significant. When we feel balanced we’re able to keep a good perspective on what we want and what’s getting in the way. We can focus our attention and energy on taking productive actions and moving forward towards our goals.

The question is – how do we keep perspective when we’re on the rollercoaster ride of running a business and managing a busy life? There are things we can do to gain some control and perspective by changing what isn’t working. As we start feeling more balanced we feel able to tackle the more challenging aspects of our lives that need addressing. The key is to start small. Don’t try and change everything in one go!

Here are my Top 10 Tips on how to keep perspective:-

🌟 Health comes first. We all know the importance of our health, but often we don’t take it seriously until we have to. Self care is not selfish. Put yourself at the top of your to-do list.
🌟 Disconnect. It can be hard to put down and turn off the technology but the world won’t end if you take a few hours or even the whole weekend to focus on another part of your life.
🌟 Say NO. It’s just not possible to get perspective when you’re running, juggling and fire-fighting. Less is more. Saying no to everything that’s not essential or valuable to your life is the only way to start creating balance.
🌟 Cut down on negativity. Surround yourself with people who support and lift you up. Minimise contact with anybody who doesn’t make a positive contribution to your life.
🌟 Get some alone time. It’s hard when you’re busy , but essential for reducing stress and getting perspective. Do something creative, write, stare out of the window. Enjoy allowing your mind to wander where it wants.
🌟 Treat yourself. We all enjoy a special meal or a bit of pampering. Celebrate achievements or simply reward yourself for being you!
🌟 Prioritise spending quality time with the people you love. Building strong connections help us feel grounded and give us perspective on life.
🌟 Get outside. Change up the routine. Explore your surroundings. Connecting with your local area will make you see things differently.
🌟 Focus on what you want. Most people dismiss their dreams as unachievable and so don’t give them the focus they deserve. Decide in detail what it is that you desire and watch the magic happen!
🌟 Have fun. Enjoy the ride. Don’t take life too seriously. There’s nothing better than proper, out-of-control laughter, so find the funny in your life.

It’s completely unrealistic to expect yourself to know everything or be able to do everything. Please be kind to yourself and if you’d like to talk through the choices you’re facing or any blockers in your business, let me know.
